The 5 Year Overnight Success

5 years ago and not a clue how to run a business, the MF dream was born from a notepad in the back garden.

I remember taking a week off work to prepare and write this business plan in an effort to get funding only to be told, "how many people do you think we get coming in here trying to be a Personal Trainer and looking for a startup grant? There is already too much competition in the area!"

Fair point. Well presented.

For me, that's all I needed to hear.

I believed in my plan and idea and no one could tell me otherwise.

When I finally bit the bullet and went full time with MF I had no option but to make a success of it and fast!

If you have no choice but to go all in on something, it's amazing what you can achieve and in a short space of time.

Make no mistake, it started with PTing in a garage for free!

I sold my beloved car to finance the startup costs and bought a £300 Fiat Punto.

There were more cold, rainy, winter night private bootcamp sessions where no one turned up than there was fully booked.

I worked 7 days a week yet had less than half the PT sessions I have now in a week where I now only work 2 full days and 2 half!

I took anything I could get and a cancellation policy at the time was wishful thinking.

5 years on I'm pretty happy with the progress MF has made even with the setbacks of 2020.

Happy, but never content.

The bar just keeps being raised each year that passes.

I've learned that making someone else's life better in some way is what brings true fulfillment to life.

I continue to work with the mindset that I could lose it all tomorrow. That I have no choice but to make a continued success of this - a lesson learned in March 2020 when I thought it was the end for MF.

I want to thank each and every one of you that has at some point been a part of, or still is a part of the MF family, for without each and every one of you, this rollercoaster ride would never have left the station.

Now, as 2022 approaches, if you have a dream, don't ever be afraid to chase it, and don't ever take it to the grave with you.

Make 2022 the year you made a start on your dream, not just another year that passed you by.

Signing out for 2021

Jonny
